Abstract

CO2 emissions from the incineration of waste containing fossil carbon(such as plastics) and open burning are some of the most important emission sources in the waste sector.Under the background of China's national energy saving and emission reduction, waste incineration for power is an important and effective greenhouse gas(GHG) mitigation strategy. In this paper, the current situation and trend of solid waste incineration are analyzed, and the regional characteristics of municipal solid waste and hazardous waste incineration are studied. The results showed that with China's economic development and rapid growth of waste generation, waste incineration disposal technology will become a primary measure for solid waste treatment in the future. With the development of the waste incineration industry,a large number of projects can be registered as Clean Development Mechanism(CDM) projects, which will make major contributions to GHG mitigation.
