Abstract
Researchers on innovation all agree that there is path dependent technological innovation. But most cases, path dependence makes firms' technologies lock in some states which are not the best, and makes little answers to some radical innovations. This paper explains that path dependence can also facilitate innovation by combining path dependence and technological trajectories. Based on this theory, this paper also explores that firms can obtain sustainable competitive advantage through innovation along firms' technological trajectories.
