Abstract

The fluorescence properties and application properties of nine coumarin-based fluorescent dyes were studied. The benezoxazolocoumarin dyes substituted with methyl or chlorine on 5'-position showed bathochromic shift of the maximum absorption and fluorescence emission. The benezothiazolocoumarin dyes substituted with chlorine on 5'-position also showed bathochromic shift of the maximum absorption and fluorescence emission. If the conjugate system were extended, the shade of the dyes changed dark. The nine dyes had similar and very good application properties on polyester fibers. The dyes containing benezoxazole ring had better light-fastness than the dyes containing benezothiazole ring and benzimidazole ring.
