Correlation Analysis on Aderoidal Hypertrophy and Otitis Media with Effusion

Objective To investigate the relationship between the size of adenoids and otitis media with effusion(OME) and its effective treatment methods.Method According to the grades of adenoids hypertrophy,116 ill children were divided into two groups:middle-grade group and pathological hypertrophy group.The influence of the degree of adenoids hypertrophy on the function of middle ear,the difference in the incidence of OME between two groups,and the efficacy of adenoidectomy on OME were analyzed.The curative rates in patients with curve type B,who received or didn't receive the operation were compared.Results The incidence of OME was statistically different between two groups.The effects of adenoidectomy on OME were better than conservative therapy.Conclusions There is a positive correlation between the grades of adenoids hypertrophy and the incidence of OME.Adenoidectomy is an important method for the treatment of OME.
