Abstract
MAPGIS is mainly used in digital mapping, spatial database management and spatial analysis. In China, this technique has already been widely utilized. Its data can be changed into other format data, such as ArcGis. Based on the MAPCAD data in Geological Atlas of China, the authors constructed 1∶2 000 000 Chinese geological map database by using MAPGIS Geography Information System. Taking the maps of Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai, and Ningxia in Geological Atlas of China as examples, the authors describe the methods, steps and significance of the construction of the geological map database.
