Comparative study on compound sulfadiazine zinc pingment and silver sulfadiazine cream for partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients

Abstract

Objective To study the application value of compound sulfadiazine zinc pingment for partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients. Methods One hundred and thirty-three pediatric patients with partial-thickness burns were enrolled in the study and were randomly divided into group A (treated with compound sulfadiazine zinc pingment, n=70) and group B(treated with silver sulfadiazine cream, n=63). The wound healing time, healing rate, bacterial clearing rate and adverse effect were observed to compare the effect of the topical agents between group A and B. Results The wound healing time of group A was significantly shorter than that of group B(P0.05). The bacterial clearing rate in group A was significantly higher than that in group B (P0.05). And no adverse effect was observed in the two groups during the study. Conclusion Wound healing can be obviously accelerated by the treatment of burn wounds with compound sulfadiazine zinc pingment in pediatric patients, especially for partial-thickness burns.
