Abstract

One hundred and nineteen germplasms, including 78 varieties(combinations) and 41 inbred lines, which are wide cultivated in Sichuan province, were collected to asses their resistance to Curvularia lunata by artificial inoculation at the seedling and adult stages in the field. No immune or highly resistant genotypes were found. The majority of the germplasms appeared moderately susceptible to the disease, and only a small number of them showed resistance to some extent.Of the inbred lines studied,Mo 17,156,7922,81565,Nan 21-3 and Zhi 48-2 were moderately resistant to the disease, and Mo 17 performed best of them.Of the varieties studied,3 displayed resistance to the disease at both the seedling and adult stages.Of the 32 hybrid combinations provided by Corn Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University,7,or 21.9% of the total, exhibited moderate resistance and it is expected that resistant genotypes might be selected from them in the future.
