Abstract
For understanding the climatic and environmental changes in Barrow (71°20′N,156°40′W) area,Alaskan.9 lake cores with depth of 100~350 cm were taken by piston corer in this area. Based upon the analyses and measurements of ~(210)Pb,~(137)Cs,TOC,TN, organic materials,CaCO_3,grain size and pollen of core 98-4B,climatic and environmental records since the Little Ice Age at Barrow were reconstructed. In the past 400 years, three main warm periods occurred at 1540~1600 AD,1760~1730 AD and 1880~1992 AD,and three cold period at 1440~1520 AD,1610~1650 AD and 1750~1850 AD.The Barrow lake core record is compatible with three main cold-warm conditions since the Little Ice Age deduced from ice cores from Camp Century,Greenland and Guliya,Tibetan study although there exist differences in high frequent climatic changes among these areas.
