Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between infarction area and the prognosis in acute cerebral infarction (ACI) patients without vessel occlusion in brain angiogtaphy. Methods Forty-nine ACI patients without vessel occlusion by brain angiography within 6 d after onset were examined by cranial CT or MRI in 3 d after onset. The modeled Ranking scale (mRS) score was investigated at 3 months after onset, and the mRS score ≤2 showed good prognosis. Results The cranial MRI showed 28 patients with anterior circulation infarction and 21 patients with posterior circulation infarction. At 3 months after onset,20 patients (71. 4% ) of anterior circulation infarction group had good prognosis, while 9 patients (42. 8% ) of posterior circulation infarction group had good prognosis. The difference was statistically significant between the two groups (P 0. 05) . Conclusions Among ACI patients without vessel occlusion in brain angiogtaphy, most of those with anterior circulation infarction may have good prognosis, and the rate of which is significantly higher than that of posterior circulation infarction group.
