Abstract
Based upon introduction of the actions of city planning as well as its duties and contents,the development trend of city planning is discussed as well as the necessity to implement sustainable development strategy in city planning.Three criterions should be followed in carrying out sustainable development strategy in city planning are proposed to realize scientific and ordered development of city.
