Abstract
The high velocity compaction(HVC)technique in powder metallurgy is described.HVC is a new manufacturing technique,for producing high density(7.4 g/cm~3~7.8 g/cm~3) P/M parts efficiently at low cost.Powder is compacted with-in less than 20 milliseconds by high-energy impacts.Further densification is achieved by multiple impacts at intervals of as short as 300 milliseconds.HVC expands the range of PM forming technique and is expected to have a high potential in the future.
