Abstract

In this paper, the series of annual temperature and precipitation in the Aksu river basin are developed using the temperature and precipitation data observed by 5 meteorological stations in the Aksu River basin in Xinjiang during the period of 1961-2000.The main results are as follows:(1) The climate change trend in the Aksu River basin is consistent with that in south Xinjiang, that is both the temperature and precipitation are increased, but the increase extent in the river basin is lower than that in whole Xinjiang;(2) The annual temperature in the river basin is gradually increased, and the warming trend is significant, especially in winter. The decadal mean annual temperature in the river basin is increased by 0.20 ℃.The coldest and hottest years occurred in 1974 and 1999 respectively;(3) The decadal annual precipitation is increased by 10.8 mm;(4) The test with SPSS software reveals that there is a negative correlation between the temperature and precipitation in the river basin, but it is not so significant. The correlation coefficients between the summer temperature and precipitation, summer temperature and annual precipitation are-0.77 and-0.54 respectively, which reveal that there is a negative correlation between summer temperature and mean annual precipitation;(5) The precipitation and the mean annual temperature in the river basin have been sharply increased since 1987 and 1993 respectively.
