Abstract
Objective To explore the characteristics of histological changes of cochlear in guinea pigs exposed to experimental blast underpressure. Methods The cochlear sections of the guinea pigs exposed to experimental blast underpressure were observed using light microscope. Results The remarkable changes were observed in the sections of the guinea pigs exposed to experimental blast underpressure of peak more than-45.5kPa.The most representative changes were haemorrhage of scala media and scala tympani, spiral ligament and stria vascluaris. The more the underprssure is,the severer are these changes. Conclusion Exposure to mid-intensity of blast underpressure more than-45.5kPa can induce remarkable pathohistological changes of cochlear in guinea pigs.
