On Ancestor Worship in Dong Nationality——Based on Investigation in Local Community of Dong in Hunan Province

According to the idols,the ancestor worship in the Dong nationality,which contains major celebrations such as offering sacrifice to the Sa,the holiday for honoring the clan ancestors,the Tomb-Sweeping Day festival,the Chinese Halloween and daily worship,is usually classified as three unique kinds—— the remote ancestor adoration,the clan adoration and the family adoration.The worship of ancestor in the Dong nationality unites utilitarianism and entertainment,combines regional characteristics with the ethnic unity,and consists of both optional activities and strict routines.
