Abstract

Gigabit-capable passive optical networks is characteristic of the high-speed rate , the high efficiency and the low cost . It is one of the best technology of realizing the broadband access network . This text mainly introduces reference configuration of gigabit-capable passive optical networks (GPON) , media access control (MAC), G-PON encapsulation mode (GEM) and dynamic bandwidth assignment (DBA) .Finally,combining the advantage of GPON ,we discuss the applications of GPON in the current network .
