Abstract

In order to understand the response of rice quality, flag leaf net photosynthesis, sink characteristics and total P accumulation to the reduction of P,the effect of phosphorus fertilizer reduction on rice quality, flag leaf photosynthesis, sink characteristics and total P accumulation of rice used in early and late seasons in South China under low N condition were studied. The results showed that, compared to conventional application of P,the reduction of P significantly improved milled rice quality in‘Yuejingsimiao 2'; significantly decreased brown rice rate in‘Guixiangzhan',but significantly increased amylose content in‘Guixiangzhan'; there was no significant effect of P reduction on rice quality in both ‘Huayou8305 'and ‘Tianyou998 '. P reduction showed no significant effect on dry matter accumulation except for‘Yuejingsimiao 2',at maturity; and there was no remarkable negative influence of P reduction on the coordination of rice source-sink and P accumulation.
