Attenuation relation of strong ground motion PGA based on classified site criterion in current seismic design code

Abstract

The boring data and strong motion records in the western United States in recent years are collected,and the strong motion records with boring data are classified by the criterion in the Code for Seismic Design of Building(GB 50011-2010) in China.Then the attenuation relation of peak ground motion is established by the simulation based on strong motion records,which are suitable for China.The saturation of ground motions near the epicenter with respect to both magnitude and distance is also emphasized in the attenuation models,the attenuation relation of peak ground acceleration(PGA) in sites category Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ is obtained and its characters are analyzed.Compared with the studies of the attenuation relation of the rock sites,it is found that the horizontal and vertical PGA attenuation curve in site category Ⅰ is in basic accordance with other researchers' results.So as long as the category of site is the same,studying the ground motion parameter by using strong motion records in different areas is feasible.The study provides a basis for the estimation of the PGA on various sites in China.
