On the Carving Art Research of ZHAO Zhi-qian

This paper attempts to discuss the carving art achievement of Zhao-Zhiqian,who was a great master of carving circte in later-qing dynasty.We see that he not only absorbecl the advantage of others but establishecl somethiry new.Inheritirg Denshiru's thoughts ofcarving out of calligraphy and calligraphy out of carving,he presented the thought ofmaking carving out side of carving,which extencls the scope of referring to the shape of carving;As to ways of Carving,he throughtly knew aboutZhu-bai,and created the newe style which is the combination of physical and spirital,making them inspiring.This also applies to cutting,carving sphere and content of carving.
