Effect of Mirtazapine in the Treatment of Insomnia

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of mirtazapine in the treatment of Insomnia.Methods Sixty patients with insomnia diagnosed by CCMD-III were randomly divided into mirtazapine group(n=20),Alprazolam group(n=20) and oryzanol group(n=20).Efficacy and side effects before and after treatment were evaluated by PSQI,HAMD,SAS,and TESS.Results The efficacies of mirtazapine and alprazolam and oryzanol had significant difference,mirtazapine was better than Alprazolam or oryzanol in the treatment of Insomnia patient.They had slighter side effects.Conclusions Mirtazapine is a safe and effective drug in the treatment of Insomnia,especially suitable for depression.
