Abstract

Eight years of study on effects of applying fertilizer and changes of land capability in industrial plantation of E globulus was carried out in red soil regions in Baoshan and Fuming county of Yunnan. The results indicated that applying fertilizer could increase the growth of E globulus.Among the tested fertilizers, phosphorus fertilizer is the most effective one, organic fertilizer could increase the growth of Eglobulus also. The effect of nitrogen and potassium on height growth was similar, while the effect of nitrogen on diameter growth was lower than that of potassium. In the area with highly effective potassium fertilizer,no need to apply potassium. The suggested fertilization for short-term industrial plantation in red soil regions of Yunnan province was 400~500g/tree as ground fertilizer, urea 50~100g/tree and potassium sulfate 0~100g/tree as additional fertilizer. The fertilizer should be applied separately in two years. The results of soil fertility monitoring indicated that applying fertilizer could effectively prevent rapid decrease of soil fertilizer amount.
