Abstract
Flat baffle was utilized to simulate the inlet distorted flow field, and its influence on the stall character of a low speed single stage axial compressor was investigated. The instantaneous characteristic of the compressor, the development process of stall disturbance and the frequency spectrum of the stall disturbance signal were investigated to explore the influence of inlet distortion on the form, intensity and frequency of rotating stall of the compressor.A stall disturbance formed in the distorted flow sector will experience development and damping when it propagates circumferentially, which will effectively influence the stall character of the compressor.Stall inception occurs only when the damping of the disturbance is insufficient to prevent its growth and surrounding propagation.
