Abstract
In the polymer surface electroless plating, the surface modification of the polymer should be made to improve the adherence of metal ions, particularly the Pd2+,to the polymer surface. In this paper, the use of polyacrylates as ABS surface modifier before electroless nickel plating was studied. The result revealed by the use of polyacrylates as modifier formed a new functional surface layer on ABS surface, which showed good adherence with Pd2+,the latter was reduced to Pd0 by electroless bath before nickel plating.Electroless nickel plating grew well on the so modified surface, and deposited layer grew uniformly.
