Comparative Analysis of Educational Degree of the Descendants between Shanxi Merchants and Anhui Merchants in the Imperial Examination System——Taking Example by the Number of Jinshis in Puzhou,Taiyuan and Huizhou

Abstract

The comparative analysis,made by extracting the number and distribution of Jinshis(successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations) in the education-developed Puzhou and Taiyuan of Shanxi and study-popular Huizhou,revealed that the number of Jinshis in these areas is closely related to the educational degrees of two merchant sects: Shanxi merchants and Anhui merchants,and to some extent demonstrated the development degree of education for Shanxi merchants and Anhui merchants in the imperial examination system.
