Abstract

Objective: Our aim was to study the effect of inhibiting tumor angiogenesis on cell proliferation and ap-oplosis in mice with bladder cancer. Methods: N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosinmine (BBN) was used to develop mouse bladder cancer. TNP-470 30 mg (15 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally twice every week. The microvascular density (MVD) of tumor, the proliferative index (PI), and the apoptotic index (AI) were investigated. Results: The MVD in the treated group by TNP-470 was 15.31± 3.66, significantly lower than that in control group (P 0.01). The PI in the control group was from 5. 2% to 41. 1% (average 21. 7% ) , and that in the treated group was from 9. 6% to 21.6% (average15. 0% ). There was evident difference between the two groups (P 0. 05). The AI in the control group was from 1. 0% to 4. 3% ( average 2. 3% ). The AI in the treated group was from 1. 1% to 20. 7% ( average 6. 81% ). There was significant deference between the two groups (P 0. 01 ). Conclusion: TNP-470 can inhibit the cell proliferation in mice bladder cancer, and accelerate tumor cell apoptosis or necrosis.
