Abstract
Progress in hemicucurbiturils( HemiQs) was reviewed in this paper,including synthesis of hemicucurbiturils,and their structural characteristics,host- guest interactions of the macrocyclic compounds with metal cations,anions and small molecular guests,applications of HemiQs in supramolecular catalysis and the influence of substrate structure on their catalytic performance. Synthesis and supramolecular chemical properties of some novel hemicucurbiturils,such as Cyclohexylhemicucurbit[6]uril and Bambus[6]uril,were also described. As novel macrocyclic compounds,studies on hemicucurbiturils are only in the beginning stages now,but there are broad prospects in fundamental research and application for supramolecular chemistry.
