Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between the degree of carotid artery atherosclerosis and coronary artery lesion in elderly patients(60years).Methods The color dopper ultrasonography of carotid artery,coronary arteriography or dual-source sixty-four slice CT coronary angiography were performed in 185 elderly patients.The relationships between the haemodynamics of carotid artery and branches of coronary artery lesion and between the grades of carotid artery plaque and coronary stenosis index,as well as branches of coronary artery lesion were analyzed.Results The lumen diameter of common carotid artery was extended(P0.05),the peak velocity of intermal carotid artery was higher(P0.05)and blood vessel resistance of arteriae vertebralis was raised(P0.01)in multi-coronary vessel lesion group than that in non-coronary vessel lesion group.The blood vessel resistance of common carotid artery was higher in 3 groups of coronary artery lesion than non-coronary vessel lesion group(P0.05).The coronary artery stenosis index was obviously higher(P0.01)in 2 grade of carotid artery plaque group and 3 grade group than no plaque group.There were coronary artery lesion in all patients of 3 grade plaque group.The patients in coronary artery lesion not less than 2 branches were increased in 2 grade and 3 grade of carotid artery plaque(P0.01).Conclusions There was a close correlation between coronary artery atherosclerosis and extended lumen diameter,higher the peak velocity and raised blood vessel resistance of carotid artery.As the damage of carotid artery atherosclerosis increasing,the branches and lesion severity of coronary artery increased.
