Abstract

Objective To investigate the current status of subjective well-being of freshmen in vocational schools and the relationship between the subjective well-being and self-esteem of them,so as to provide the evidence for improving the mental health education of freshmen.Methods A total of 1 709 vocational school students of Grade One with different majors were investigated with The Scale of Adolescent Student's Life Satisfaction and The Self-Esteem Scale.Results The subjective well-being and the self-esteem of the vocational school students were both at the upper middle level.The subjective well-being of the female freshmen was higher than that of the male students but there was no statistical difference between them(P0.05).There was a significant difference among the different source-places of the students in their subjective well-being(P0.01).There were significant differences between singleton or not and among the different source-places of the students in the self-esteem(both P0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between the subjective well-being and self-esteem(P0.01).Conclusions The subjective well-being and self-esteem of vocational school students are both positive as a whole.The subjective well-being positively correlated with the self-esteem of the students.
