Abstract

A real-time,dynamic inter-domain routing monitoring system was developed with a monitor agent partially implementing the border gateway protocol(BGP) engine. The agent can listen and receive BGP routing update messages by peering with any BGP speaker in the managed BGP network. The agent uses the collected routing information to re-construct the BGP topology and analyze the BGP dynamics. The system is implemented in the dynamic inter-domain routing monitor system deployed in CERNET2(the second generation of China Education and Research Network). The system analyzes the inter-domain routing dynamics in real-time with less extra load for both the network and the routers.
