Abstract

The global positioning system(GPS) receiver architecture was analyzed to develop a baseband signal processing algorithm for GPS receiver using general-purpose microprocessors. The signal processing scheme in traditional receivers was modified to create a software GPS receiver.During tracking, the local carrier and code are generated from a pre-stored carrier and code table, which reduces the computational burden.A non real-time GPS software receiver was implemented on a MATLAB platform and tested with the actual satellite signals. The test shows that the standard derivation of the positioning errors was 6.3 m.The work lays a foundation for implementation of a real-time GPS software receiver.
