History, Current Condition and Thinking of Social Harmony Research

As a state of social existence and development, social harmony thinking is not only efficiently embedded in Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy, but also exists in Marxism writings. In the Western academic realm has arisen an enthusiasm about social collision and social harmony research because of the twofold requests on theory and realistic development. In our country a great propulsion and a great achievement have been made in Chinese and Western philosophy's harmony thinking and in Marxism social harmony research. Three issues in social harmony research are considered in this paper such as the definition of social harmony essence, the choice of research methodology, evaluation device etc by viewing the history and the current condition. These issues can bring social harmony research on the whole deep into an extensive realm and also will direct our social cognition and practice.
