Abstract

The capacity and performance of a DS-CDMA system is greatly limited by Multiple Access Interference(MAI) and therefore many multiuser detection algorithms have been proposed. To reject MAI, Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) one of the most practical algorithms and its convergence characteristic under AWGN channel are discussed. While some beneficial results are achieved via theoretical analysis. In the case of two synchronous users, the convergence speed of PIC algorithm is directly related to the cancellation coefficients and cross correlation quality between the spreading codes. If a hard decision is adopted, the signal noise ratio also plays a role. Due to difficult derivation, multiuser case is not considered. The result achieved may provide some insight into implementation of PIC algorithm.
