Abstract
Objective To study the clinical efficacy and side effects of paroxetine in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.Methods Eighty-six patients who met the criteria of CCMD-3 for generalized anxiety disorder were randomly assigned to treatment with paroxetine (43 patients) or clornazepam (43 patients) for 6 weeks.The clinical efficacy and side effects were tested with HAMA,SAS and TESS.Results Paroxetine was similar to clonazepam in clinical efficacy and side effects.Conclusion Paroxetine is an effective and safe anxiolytic agent.
