Abstract

Based on the statistic data in 2008,the synthetic quality index values of prefectural-level cities in Jiangsu are attained by the principal component method.By time cost and monetary cost of expressway and railway, economic distances between prefectural-level cities in Jiangsu are calculated. This paper adjusted the gravity model, calculated the interaction forces between prefectural-level cities and divided Jiangsu into several economic regions by combining with the 0-1 programming model.By the difference degree of industrial structure between counties and the neighbor-hood of position, this paper divided each economic region into several sub-economic regions. The results show as follows:(1)Jiangsu province is divided into four economic regions that are Ning-zhen-yang-tai economic region,Su-xi-chang-tong economic region,Xu-lian-su economic region and Huai-yan economic region and fifteen sub-economic regions.(2)The number of the regions linked to each prefectural-level city follows the Zipf rule, and the whole economic spatial network of Jiangsu province is led by Nanjing that is the first level knot and by Suzhou that is the second level knot, but Nantong,Suqian and Yancheng have no apparently linked region.(3)The spatial structure of Jiangsu's economic regions is transforming from the south-north trend into the east-west trend in southern region of Jiangsu and the south-north trend in northern region of Jiangsu.(4)The interaction forces between cities in economic regions in southern region of Jiangsu are major, but ones in northern region of Jiangsu are minor. The economic regionalization in provincial scope is a foundation of the division of standard economic region in China in the future and a favour to better optimizing the structure of Jiangsu's division of labor.
