Status of rural drinking water safety and protection planning of water source areas in Chongqing

In accordance with the investigation on the pollution situation of the water sources for the rural drinking water and the status of the rural drinking water quality in Chongqing,the protection engineering planning and the management programming concerned for the water source areas for the concentrated water use of the rural drinking water are made herein.The planned engineering measures include that the separating protection project for the water source areas of the rural drinking water,the ecological recovery and protection project,the comprehensive control project for point and non-point pollutions.The water source area management programming comprises of the construction of the control and monitoring system for the water source areas of drinking water,the construction of the information management system for the water source areas for the concentrated water use of the rural drinking water,the establishment of the emergency response mechanism for the sudden water pollution accident.Through the implementation of the pilot project and the overall implementation of the planning scheme concerned,the eco-environments of the relevant water source areas are expected to be improved to ensure the safety of the rural water supply,and then to promote the sustainable utilization of the water resources for realizing the sustainable development of the economic society.
