Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect of aspirin on the proliferation of cell line SMMC-7721 in the liver cancer in vitro. Methods:SMMC-7721cells were treated with aspirin for culturing. Inverted microscope was used to observe the cell morphology and cell proliferation was measured by MTT method. Terminal deoxynucleotide transferas-mediated a UTP nick and labeling(tunel)was used to examine the apoptosis index of cells. Results:Aspirin of different concentrations could inhibit the proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells, and the apoptosis index climbed with the increased dose of aspirin, which showed relationship of does-time dependence regarding inhibition. Conclusion:Aspirin can inhibit proliferation of liver cancer cell line SMMC-7721 and the inhibition correlates positively with dose of aspirin. The potential mechanism may be associated with cell inhibition through inducing apoptosis.
