Application of TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) in Engineering Construction

Abstract

This paper reviews the background of the generation of TBM, and introduces the application of TBM in the tunnel engineering of the English Channel, YRDP (Yellow River Diversion Project) of Wanjiazhai, Shanxi Province and the tunnel engineering of Datong Tashan Coal Mine. The smooth construction of these engineering accumulate valuable practicing experiences for the further utilization of TBM.
