Abstract
The effects of different degree and period of water stress on the growth and yield of winter wheat were studied under pot-cultivated condition in Zhengyuan dry-land farming experiment base of Gansu academy of agricultural sciences during 2004-2006.The result shows that the more disadvantage affected plant height,length of spike,root growth,leaf area and yield of winter wheat along with the increasing degree of water stress,the yield,plant height,length of spike,dry weight of root and leaf area compared with those under well water decreased by 55.6%,27.0 cm,1.2 cm,3.2 g/pot,39.2%,respectively,under the severe water stress.Yield,the amount of fertile spike per pot,number of grains per spike,plant height,length of spike and number of sterile spikelets per spike were most heavily affected at jointing and booting stage and the sensitive stage to 1000-grain weight was at filling stage.
