Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)and its clinical implications in patients with chronic severe hepatitis B.Methods Serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 in 50 chronic severe hepatitis B patients and 30 normal persons were detected by double antibody sandwich ELISA.The serum level of HBV DNA and HBV markers in 50 hepatitis patients were also detected by FQ-PCR and ELISA,respectively.Automatic biochemistry analyzer was used for measuring serum level of liver function tests.Automated coagulation analyzer was used to measure the prothrombin time activity.Results Serum levels of sICAM-l in patients with chronic severe hepatitis B were significantly higher than that in normal persons(P0.01).Serum levels of sICAM-1 in the survival group was obviously higher than that in the patients who died(P0.01).The serum sICAM-1 level in the patients had a positive correlation with prothrombin time activity(r=0.475,P0.01),and a negative correlation with bilirubin(r=-0.395,P0.01).No correlation with alanine aminotransferase and albumin(r= 0.014,-0.214,P0.05).There was no significant difference in serum sICAM-1levels between 27 patients with high HBV DNA load(1×105copies/ml)and 23 patients with low HBV DNA load(1×105copies/ml,P0.05)and no difference was seen between 7 patients with HBeAg(+)/HBeAb(-)and 43 with HBeAg(-)/HBeAb(+)(P0.05).Conclusion Serum level of sICAM-l in patients with chronic severe hepatitis B is significantly higher than that in normal persons.Serum levels of sICAM-1 in the survival group is obviously higher than that in the patients who died.
