Abstract

The investigation on insect species feeding on kudzu was conducted and 110 insect species were recorded. The main species feeding on kudzu were purple stem beetle Sagra femorata (Fabricius)feeding within stem, smal bean bug Chauliops bisontula Scott, sieve pore bug Megacopta cribraria (Fabricius),variegated legume leaf beetle Colpocselis signata (Motschulsky),green leafhopper Tettigoniella viridis, bean blister beetle Epicauta obscurocephala Peitter, Chauliops fallax Scott, Tetranychus urtica, Bemisisa tabaci (Gennidiaus), Anlacophora femoralis (Motschulsky), Tettigoniella spetre (Kalrenbach), Cicadella viridis (Linnaeus), Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom),and so on. The results showed that the number of species belonging to Coleoptera and Hemiptera are 46 and 24,respectively and it concluded from investigation in the field that the purple stem beetle is a potential agent for control of kudzu.
