Abstract

Objective:To investigate pathological characteristics and related factors of endometrium in patients with leiomyomas. Methods:The endometrium of 479 patients with uterine leiomyomas from 2002 to 2004 was studied.Results:97 of 479 patients presented irregular vaginal bleeding.220 patients had single myoma and 259 patients had multiple myomas.Degeneration of myoma occurred in 70 patients.67 patients belonged to cellular leiomyoma.109 cases presented endometrial lesions including 42 endometrial polyp(8.76%),41 simple hyperplasia(8.56%),12 complex hyperplasia(2.51%),3 atypical hyperplasia(0.63%),and 11 endometrial carcinoma(2.29%).Conclusions:Uterine leiomyomas may complicate with endometrial lesions and get different endometrial pathological characteristics. However, irregular vaginal bleeding and menopause are related with endometrial lesions and endometrium carcinoma, not the amount of myoma and degeneration of myoma.
