Abstract

Objective:To study the relationship between bile reflux and chronic gastritis. Methods: Case-control study was used to compare the relationship between bile reflux (study group) and chronic superficial gastritis (control group) which were diagnosed by gastroendoscopy. Results: Among the 199 pair of cases ( male 72 pair, female 127 pair, mean age 50. 0 ± 14. 5 yrs old in study group and 49. 8±14. 5yrs old in control group), pathological degree of gastritis of the patient group was slightly more severe than that of the control group. In antral biopsy samples, the percentage of mild and moderate degree were 48. 2%/ 51.7% (study group) vs 52. 9%/47. 1 % (control group) respectively (P 0. 05). In Hp-negative patients, moderate degree of gastritis in antral was 48. 0% vs. 40. 0% ,that of body was 44. 1 % vs 38. 4%. The degree of gastritis in study group was sever than that in the control group, but without statistical significance. In Hp-positive patients, the degree of gastritis was more slight than that of control group( moderate degree of gastritis in antral was 61. 8% vs. 69. 4% ,that in body was 62. 7% vs. 70. 2%) . Conclusion:Bile reflux is related to gastritis both in antral and body. Hp infected bile reflux should have Hp eradicated first.
