Abstract
Low temperature treatments had marked influence on the germination of the pollen of 5 peach varieties, with substantial inter-varietal differences. The pollen of the variety Maotao appeared most low temperature-tolerant while that of Baihuatao was susceptible. After the termination of low temperature treatment, the pollen kept at room temperature (16℃) soon resumed germination and the pollen tube started to grow. With the exception of CaCl_2 and VB_2, all the growth regulators studied (GA_3, PI, NAA, BA and IBA) significantly promoted pollen germination and pollen tube elongation.
