Abstract

Objective:To evaluate Expression of ERK-1mRNA in rat with liver fibrosis and the influence of curcumin to them. Methods:Liver fibrosis in rats were induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4).Rats were divided into three groups:normal control group,CCl4 model group and curcumin group. The expression of alpha-Smooth Muscle Action were detected by immunohistochemistry. The mRNA expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK-1)were determined by RT-PCR.Results:The expression of alpha-Smooth Muscle Action were significantly lower in the rats treated with curcumin compared with those of the model group(P0.05).The mRNA expression of ERK-1 were significantly higher in model group, but obviously lower in curcumin treated group(P0.05).Conclusion:curcumin is able to inhibit the activiation of HSC through suppress ing the expression of alpha-Smooth Muscle Action and it also can inhibit the proliferation of HSC through suppressing the mRNA expression of ERK-1.
