Abstract
The thermal efficiency expression and a computational fluid dynamics model of U-tube solar collector were established and analyzed. The thermal performance was evaluated by means of the model for changing inlet flow velocity, structure dimensions and solar irradiation.Simulation results presented that slower incoming flow rate, smaller U-tube diameter, higher solar irradiation or bigger U-tube length will lead to higher outlet temperature. This research work provides a theoretical and technical support for optimization design and parameter matching of U-tube solar collector.
