Long-term Curative Effect and Visual Quality of Life in Myopia Patients After Different Keratorefractive Surgery

【Objective】To compare long-term curative effect and visual quality of life in myopia patients after two kinds of keratorefractive surgery,i.e.radial keratotomy(RK) and laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK).【Methods】A total of 101 myopia eyes treated with RK were followed up for 12.1± 2.0 years,and 98 myopia eyes treated with LASIK were followed-up for 7.4± 0.2 years.The visual acuity, refraction,intraocular pressure(IOP),BUT,Schirmer testⅠand the result of questionnaire of visual quality of life were compared between two groups.【Results】The visual acuity of LASIK group was better than that of RK group.There was significantly statistical difference between the two groups.The myopia patients with-3.00D～-6.00D before surgery were-0.22±1.28D and-0.70±0.52D in RK and LASIK group,respectively.The myopia patients with ≥-6.25D before surgery were-1.02±1.25D and-1.06±0.13D in RK and LASIK group.IOP was 11.87±2.52mmHg and 11.31±2.20mmHg in RK and LASIK group.BUT was 5.3±4.7s and 8.0±3.6s in RK and LASIK group.Schirmer testⅠwas 14.5±9.0mm and 15.2±4.3mm in RK and LASIK group.The visual quality of life of LASIK group was better than that of RK group.【Conclusion】LASIK was more effective,more accurate and more satisfactory for visual quality of life than RK surgery.
