Abstract
In eukaryotes, cellular and systemic metabolism is primarily controlled by mitochondrial activity. The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator 1a(PGC-1α) is an important regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis and function. There is currently much interest in PGC-1α,focusing on two important characteristics: tissue-specific expression and induction of a specific signal.PGC-1α is expressed at high levels in tissues where mitochondria are abundant and oxidative metabolism is active. The signal induction activity of PGC-1α is clearly related to the cell's energy metabolism state. For example, cold, fasting and exercise all contribute to a increase in PGC-1α expression.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
