On the Changes of the Cities in the Song Dynasty

With development of economy in Song Dynasty,the appearance of cities which continued since medieval ages and appeared epoch-making changes: The residential area and shopping area united,the economic function of cities improved continuously,the population in cities increased and residents' role changed,the scope and scale of cities expanded,and amusement activities with meaning of consumption and business sprang up rapidly.Those changes show that Chinese ancient cities have already deviated from traditional pattern and entered period of the city revolution in Song Dynasty.
