Abstract
Objective:To study the efficacy and side effects of paroxetine in the treatment of depression.Methods:Sixty patients who met with the CCMD-3 criteria of depression were randomly divided into the research group(paroxetine) and control group(Imipramine) for the 6-week treatment.The efficacy was assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA).The side effects were assessed by Treatment Emergent Symptoms Scale(TESS).Results: Efficacy of paroxetine and imipramine was the similar(P0.05).The improvement rate was 83.33% and 76.67% respectively.Paroxetine had effect on anxiety symptom with less side effects.Conclusions:Paroxetine is an effective and safe antidepressant.
