Abstract
The theory and characters of the limit equilibrium slice method and the shear strength reduction(SSR) FEM used in slope stability analysis have been studied by comparison analysis in this article. It can be found that combining the limit equilibrium slice method with finite clement method is an important tendency in slope stability analysis. Therefore, based on the approximately real stress field got from FEM,the minimal safety factor and corresponding position of critical slide surface can be got using limit equilibrium method concept through mathematical method(such as dynamic programming method). It needs to develop common software for this method.
