Experience of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 78 senile patients

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinic value of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in aged patients. Methods 78 cases of LC in our hospital from 2004 Aug to 2007 Aug were studied retrospectively. Results Conversions to open surgery were needed in 3 patients. The length of hospital stay was 4～16 d (mean, 6d). Conclusion Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is safe and feasible in aged patients. Proper perioperative management and careful prevention for complications are important for senile patients.
